Attacking Oases.

This is a supplement to the guide to capturing an oasis.

There are two types of oasis that you can attack – Unoccupied oasis and occupied oasis.

Unoccupied are those that only contain animals, occupied are those that another player has already taken.

An unoccupied oasis will usually contain some animals but you can see what is there, just by clicking on the oasis -

Like your own troops the animals have different defence rankings (animals never attack so Offence rating is not relevant)

All oases contain a mixture of animals so where ever possible you should send both infantry and cavalry in an attack.

If you attack an unoccupied oasis the biggest bounty you can receive is 400 of each resource. Once the animals are dead you can of course attack again but like villages the resources take time to produce so a second attack in a short time will only get you a few resources. The animals will re-spawn (Come back) after a period. Sometimes I have seen them re-spawn in a matter of minutes, sometimes it can be a day or so.

Attacking Occupied Oases

You can of course attack an oasis that has already been captured by another player, but bear in mind that they can reinforce it with troops.

If you attack an occupied oasis then the bounty will be 10% of the resources currently in the owning village, minus any resources covered by crannies, so if the owning village has 1200 wood, 1356 clay, 1400 iron and 500 wheat, and their cranny hides 100 you will get -

wood – 1200 - 100 = 1100/10 =110
Clay – 1356 – 100 = 1256/10 = 125

Iron – 1400 – 100 = 1300/10 = 130

Wheat – 500 – 100 =400/10 = 40

I still see people who attack their own oases. If you do you will take resources from your own village in accordance with the formula above, but the resources actually come from the “Owning” village. So if you have one village and that village owns an oasis if you attack it, you will see a report that you have gained bounty, but if you look at the resources in your village before and after the attack you will see that you have just stolen them from yourself.

There are only two occasions where you might want to attack your own oasis -

Village 2 owns an oasis and the warehouse is full, but all my merchants are out, I can attack that oasis from village 1 to take 10% of the resources (Sometime this is quicker than sending merchants!)

My village is under attack and I only have offence troops in there, so I want to dodge (I want my troops out of the village when the attack hits) I could send them out on an attack, or send them to reinforce the oasis, but I also realise that the attacker will be able to steal some resources off me, here is an example

Warehouse capacity 5000, Currently holding 4000 and I have crannies that cover 2000, that leaves 2000 available to be stolen in the attack. I only have 1 merchant available so I send 1000* to my other village which still means the attacker can steal 1000. If I plan things I can reduce this loss considerably

Attack is due to hit at 12.00

My troops take 5 minutes to get to the oasis (and 5 minutes to get back)
So I would send my troops to attack my own oasis at 11.51, they hit the oasis at 11.56 and “Steal” 10% of my resources (400). At 11.57 I send my merchant to my second village with 1000 resources. That will leave me with 2600 in store, of which my cranny hides 2000, the attacker will only gain 600 resources.
As my troops take 5 minutes to get back from the oasis they will not be in the village when the attack lands and will not be killed.

*Note Different tribes merchants have different carrying capacity
